§ Personality of the Holy Spirit

"Howbeit when the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you ink all the truth: for shall not speak from himself; but what things so ever he shall hear, these shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, ant shall declare it unto you» (John 16: 13, 14.)

We should know who the Holy Spirit is, his nature, his essence his ministry, relation to God, to Christ, and to man; in fact, we should study everything that the Bible reveals concerning the Holy Spirit. As far as it is possible for us, we should cleat away all superstitions and traditions and let the Holy Spirit stand out as definitely and prominently in our minds as he does on the pages of inspiration. We are to see that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; "the Spirit of God" is God the Spirit. It is a grievous sin against the Holy Spirit to refuse or deny what the Bible teaches about the personality» of the Holy Spirit. To deny what the New Testament teaches on his personality is to den); the testimony of Christ.

There is much confusion and superstition about the Holy Spirit in the minds of people. A clear understanding of the nature and work of the Holy Spirit will help to dispel and dissipate much of the confusion that exists about this subject. The Bible is not responsible for the vague mysticism which some, ascribe to the Holy Spirit; the ignorance of the personality of the Holy Spirit belongs to religious teachers; they have not sought to present in a clear and definite way what God teaches on this subject. Surely no one can charge God with the foolishness and ignorance that many hold with respect to the Holy Spirit. It is freely and frankly admitted that there is a profound mystery that belongs to the Holy Spirit; God and Christ have their mysterious side. However, there is a simple side to the Holy Spirit and work; this we should seek to understand.
