§ Holy Spirit in material creation
The Holy Spirit has had a very definite and distinct part it the creation of the material universe; his work as a member of the Godhead in the creation has received very little attention It is as important to understand his work in this sphere as it is in any other sphere; with a clear understanding of his work we may cooperate in a more intelligent way. The function of the Holy Spirit is as abroad in the universe as is the work of God. The Godhead has created the cosmos as it now appears. The Holy Spirit has functioned with God, the Creator in all of his work. It is to appear in this study that the work of the Holy Spirit in the material world is as great as in the spiritual realm. If we understand his work in this realm, we may the better understand it in the redemption of man.
When we descend into the bowels of the earth and discover the rich deposits of iron, coal, gas, metallic ores of silver, gold, and precious stones, we ought to know that the Holy Spirit has had something to do in placing these there for the welfare of man. When we view the surface of the earth and traverse the rolling prairies, or climb the mountain heights, or descend into the valleys, we should know that the Holy Spirit has coordinated with God in this arrangement. When we admire the beauty of the flowers in the vegetable kingdom and enjoy the food from this source, again, we should learn that the Holy Spirit has made the rich provisions for our happiness. There is nothing with which we have to do in the vegetable kingdom that the Holy Spirit has not helped to bring about. When we turn our faces heavenward on a clear night and look at the stars, we should know that the Holy Spirit has helped in the arrangement of them. Everything beneath the earth, on the earth, or above the earth •should remind us of the work of the Holy Spirit. When we Study the laws of nature, we are studying the laws of God; when we witness the Jaw? of nature in action, we see "the Holy Spirit in action.
