Who is the Holy Spirit; must know to understand his nature and ministry; superstitions exposed.

I. A DIVINE PERSON.

1. Referred to with personal pronoun, masculine gender, singular number.
2. Same nature and essence as God.
3. Spoken of by Christ as a person.

II. HAS DIVINE ATTRIBUTES.

1. Has a mind. (Rom. 8: 27.)
2. Power of knowing. (1 Cor. 2: 10, 11.)
3. Power of volition. (1 Cor. 12: 11.)
4. Power to love. (Rom. 15: 30.)

III. THESE ATTRIBUTES ASCRIBABLE ONLY TO A PERSON.

1. Power of speaking. (1 Tim. 4: 1.)
2. Bears witness. (John 15: 26.)
3. Makes intercession. (Rom. 8: 26.)
4. Power of searching. (1 Cor. 2: 10.)
5. Power to forbid. (Acts 16: 6.)

IV. HAS FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD.

1. Associated with God.
2. Associated with Christ. f
3. God a tri-unity, or one God and three persons.
4. "God" revealed himself as three persons.
5. Holy Spirit knows mind of God. (1 Cor. 2: 11.)

V. NAMES OF HOLY SPIRIT.

1. Different names for members of Godhead.
2. Many names for God.
3. More names for Christ.
4. Fewer names for Holy Spirit.
5. He is called "Holy Spirit," "Spirit," "Spirit of God," "Spirit of the Lord," "Spirit of Truth," "My Spirit," "Comforter."
